The inspiration originated from Olivia’s grandmother’s wardrobe. As soon as garments leave her closet, they get damaged by moths. In her collection, this frustration is turned into beauty. She visibly fills the moth holes with modified metal scraps and remelted broken jewellery pieces handed down to her. Her ethos is to work with the already existing, to give the unwanted a new life. She challenges the conventional perception of jewellery and pushes the boundary between ornament and fashion. The result is called Loop. These modified and colourised Loops not only mend but also expand throughout the garment—creating patterns and forming new shapes. A technique of transformative repair.
